Week beginning 29th September 2014
Welcome to our weekly news.
The first Half of the term has all but come to an end. It has been a very positive time with the children all settling happily into Little Grange. I am immensely heartened to hear that many of our children would like to come to school at the weekend, there can be no better compliment!
The children have all taken part in a musical making workshop with reception, again this experience has been much enjoyed and it is an opportunity for the children to work together.
We are now planning a cookery workshop to take place on Monday 8th December.
Please find below a summary of the main focused activities that have taken place.
Communication and Language
The focus over the past week has been on encouraging the children to listen to a story and to then discuss and ask questions about the plot.
The children have enjoyed listening to Lucy and Tom at the seaside. The children have also used pencils and crayons to write, trace and work on their pencil skills.
I spy table.
We have a sound of the week and we encourage the children to bring an item from home to display on our I spy table for the week.
Next week our assessment of the children will take place.
Following Half Term the sounds will be as follows;
2/11/14 C and K
In our focused sessions the children have investigating road signs, looking at their shapes and working out their meanings. We went out into the school grounds armed with shape detectors and the children searched excitedly for signs.
Understanding the World
The children have used the IWB to learn about flags in different countries.
Expressive Arts and Design
The children have used a range of coloured paints to finger paint fish which have been made into a striking mobile.
The role play areas are always very popular, this term we have an airport café inside and a travel agents in the outdoor area.

This week the children have thought about team work and the importance of working together to tidy away activities.
